What am I doing?
I’ve been trying to write something that would be good to post on New Year’s Day, something profound (read: pretentious) about the kind of year that 2016 was, and what I hope I have learned to take in to 2017. The thing is… I’m just not enjoying it.
I’ve realised that I keep trying to be a different kind of writer to the one I actually am, spurred on by what I read and the kind of thing I think I’m supposed to be writing on a blog. Plus there’s the tantalising idea of turning it into some kind of career.
Instead, I am going to make one resolution for this year – I will write the things I want to write, not what I think I have to write.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I hope your year is filled with writerly wonder and triumphs – I’d love to know what your writing resolutions are.
